Greetings from Victoria & Mariaemma!
September was a very busy month!
Our 3-day Level 1 LearningSuccess Coach class was
full and
we were delighted and honored to welcome a mom from
Colombia! She came many, many miles to learn more about
our program to help her own family, and also with
the vision
of introducing LearningSuccess in her country. She
will be
back in December for Level 2 and then on to Level 3!
We also welcomed back our Level 3 class for their
second 3-
day session of a year-long internship program. We
are very
fortunate to have so many people supporting our work
and
working toward private practice or school
implementation
certification.
We are also grateful for the charter schools that are
requesting workshops, seminars, and training
programs. This
week we will be presenting a day-long seminar on
learning
styles at Golden Valley Charter School in Ventura,
California.
This one is in our home town so we don't have to go
very far!
On another note...school is in full swing
(elementary through graduate school!) and by now
many children and adults are once again experiencing
the frustration of writing reports.
So we are

Coaching brings out the star!
How can you bring out the STAR in every child or
adult, in any subject or skill? Is that even
possible? After all, one of the things we emphasize
in our LearningSuccess work is that every person is
different, possessing different sets of talents and
natural abilities. Besides,
in the last two newsletters we discussed Success
Laws 1 and 2, focusing on the fact that people need
to spend most of their time doing things that are
easy to learn, easy to do, and provide the most
successful experiences!
Yes, all of that is still true...AND
here is one of the most wonderful, magical aspects
of LearningSuccess:
You can follow Success Laws 1 and 2 (Learning
doesn't have to hurt, Success leads to more success)
AND bring out the Star in those areas that are not
strenghts or natural ability areas.
How? By applying a very powerful LearningSuccess
concept: the 4-Period Lesson(tm).
This concept explains how any new thing is learned.
The learning process goes through 4 periods:
Introduction, Recognition, Recall, and Fluency.
The reason so many students do not get to see their

LearningSuccess Tip: Memorize with Music
Is there someone in your life who has been asked to
memorize the states and capitals, the Declaration of
Independence, or any facts, dates, or names?
Make this process easier by setting the words to
music.
Why do you think commercials use jingles? And, by
the way, do you still sing the alphabet song to
remember the ABCs?
Try singing the Declaration of Independence to the
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star melody...We hold these
truths to be self-evident / that all men are created
equal / that they are endowed by their
Creator...etc.
Using music to memorize can work for all ages. And
if the person memorizing happens to have a music
talent and wants to make up his own melodies, all
the better. Add an interest in dance, and you can
sing and dance your way through studying for that
test.
Give it a try for yourself or your students...at the
very least you'll make learning more fun...
