Grace's
previous experience as a science educator includes eight years
teaching science at the middle school, high school, and college
levels. Subjects include middle school general science, Chemistry
and Advanced Placement Chemistry. All teaching experiences
have been in the private sector, allowing her to explore and apply
progressive teaching methods in the classroom.
She has worked with chemistry and biology high school teachers through the
Teachers + Occidental = Partnerships in Science (TOPS) program at Occidental
College as part of the teacher education team, as well as the chemistry curriculum
development team. She developed and launched a collaborative learning program
for chemistry and math students at Occidental College, known as the Academic
Mastery Program (AMP).
While
her teaching experience has focused on science and math, the
training received as a LearningSuccess™ Coach has prepared her
to help students in the language arts (writing, reading, spelling,
critical thinking skills, comprehension skills) and at all
levels of math. Her background in science, math and
now the language arts, allows her to help students with
multiple needs across several subject areas.
Grace lives with her husband and two school-aged children in Glendale,
California, and is fluent in Spanish.
